Roulette was developed around the turn of the century and is one of the most popular gambling games in the world. The standard American casino roulette wheel contains two green slots: 0 and 00 (many European wheels eliminate the 00, which creates more favorable odds for players) Once the bets are placed on the table, a small ball is released on to the spinning Roulette wheel, in the opposite direction to the spin. The sections are numbered from 1 to 36, (half red and half black, half odd and half even) plus a green section marked 0. Every roulette player has different colored chips for easier identifying. The game of roulette starts after the players have made most of their bets by placing them on the numbered layout. If the roulette ball lands in the 0 slot, the game ends and all players receive half their original bets back. In roulette you can place bets until the ball leaves the track and falls onto the spun wheel. When you get your roulette chips they will not be marked with a denomination, you choose it, and all of the chips will reflect that worth - the dealer keeps track of that by associating the amount and color with a 'lammer'. After the roulette wheel stops the dealer will then mark the winning number on the betting area and the bets are paid accordingly. After all payoffs have been made, the Dealer will announce "Place your bets. Wait til the dealer says "place your bets" before putting any roulette chips down for the next round. You should remember to exchange the colored non-value Roulette chips for valued gaming chips prior to leaving a particular Roulette table. When you finish beating the house at roulette, you will have to ask the dealer to "color out" for you, the dealer will then take your chips and give you casino checks which you may then use on other games or cash out at the cashier.
