Roulette players make bets by placing chips in various locations on the table. The United States adopted their own version of roulette, but the French version is still played time to time in Las Vegas. The wheel has numbered pockets ranging from 0 to 36 - and 00 in American Style Roulette. The sections are numbered from 1 to 36, (half red and half black, half odd and half even) plus a green section marked 0. The zero and double zero numbers are in green and on opposite sides of the wheel, the colors and odd/even numbers alternate, and the numbers themselves are randomly distributed. The roulette chips are worthless at the other tables in the same casino, so do not bother trying to stack them under your blackjack chips or anything foolish like that. After all bets are placed, the roulette Dealer spins the wheel in one direction and the ball in the opposite direction. When the roulette ball comes to rest in one of the slots, the dealer will call out the winning number and settle all bets. Even if you play it safe and bet red/black or even/odd, casino roulette is a lot of fun. Unlike other casino games, roulette rounds go by quickly - just a spin of the wheel and the game is over. Once the roulette ball has found its slot, the dealer will call out the winning number and place a marker on that number's spot on the layout. Wait til the dealer says "place your bets" before putting any roulette chips down for the next round. You should remember to exchange the colored non-value Roulette chips for valued gaming chips prior to leaving a particular Roulette table. When you finish beating the house at roulette, you will have to ask the dealer to "color out" for you, the dealer will then take your chips and give you casino checks which you may then use on other games or cash out at the cashier.
