Roulette translated literally means "small wheel" and is one of the oldest casino games played today. The roulette wheel consists of slots or pockets numbered from 1 to 36, which are either red or black. An American roulette wheel has an extra slot; 00. If you are playing at a roulette table with a 5 dollar minimum, you are required to place 5 dollars on each of your outside bets, and-or a total of at least 5 dollars on your inside bets. The zero and double zero numbers are in green and on opposite sides of the wheel, the colors and odd/even numbers alternate, and the numbers themselves are randomly distributed. Roulette chips have no value at other tables. If the roulette ball lands in the 0 slot, the game ends and all players receive half their original bets back. If the dreaded 00 is spun, the House keeps all the bets. The winning roulette number is marked by the Dealer. Roulette does not move at a quick pace, it is for a more relaxed crowd than you are likely to find at the craps table. Once the roulette ball has found its slot, the dealer will call out the winning number and place a marker on that number's spot on the layout. When you finish beating the house at roulette, you will have to ask the dealer to "color out" for you, the dealer will then take your chips and give you casino checks which you may then use on other games or cash out at the cashier.
