There are 2 types of roulette, American and French (aka European roulette) The roulette wheel consists of slots or pockets numbered from 1 to 36, which are either red or black. In roulette game the bank pays or collects from each bettor. You usually find most tables in Las Vegas with a minimum roulette bet of $1 - $3. The sections are numbered from 1 to 36, (half red and half black, half odd and half even) plus a green section marked 0. The marked area of roulette is called the game layout, and you may place bets on any particular number, any 4 adjacent numbers, a column or a dozen bet. All roulette players place their bets. Once the bets have been placed on the roulette table, the wheel starts spinning and a small ball is released on to the wheel in the opposite direction of the spinning wheel. When the roulette ball comes to rest in one of the slots, the dealer will call out the winning number and settle all bets. When you get your roulette chips they will not be marked with a denomination, you choose it, and all of the chips will reflect that worth - the dealer keeps track of that by associating the amount and color with a 'lammer'. Roulette does not move at a quick pace, it is for a more relaxed crowd than you are likely to find at the craps table.
