There are 2 types of roulette, American and French (aka European roulette) One of the thing you should know about roulette is how the table minimum works. The wheel has numbered pockets ranging from 0 to 36 - and 00 in American Style Roulette. Single numbers pay the highest, while either/or bets are lowest. Each roulette player is assigned different color of chip, allowing the dealer differentiate bets and match them to the right players. When all bets are placed, the croupier spins the wheel and a ball bounces from slot to slot until finally coming to rest in one of them. The dealer spins the roulette wheel in one direction and the small ball in the opposite one. If the dreaded 00 is spun, the House keeps all the bets. Numbers 1-18 are considered the lows numbers, 19-36 are the highs. Roulette is a banking game: all bets are placed against the house. Once the roulette ball has found its slot, the dealer will call out the winning number and place a marker on that number's spot on the layout. Wait til the dealer says "place your bets" before putting any roulette chips down for the next round. You should remember to exchange the colored non-value Roulette chips for valued gaming chips prior to leaving a particular Roulette table. When you finish beating the house at roulette, you will have to ask the dealer to "color out" for you, the dealer will then take your chips and give you casino checks which you may then use on other games or cash out at the cashier.
